Capital

Formal

..various definitions and uses :- a) Wealth owned by corporations and individuals - money or property. b) The long term funds contributed to companies by the owners or shareholders to fund growth and expansion. c) The excess of assets over liabilities in a company or corporation - 'Net worth'.

Informal

Not a book by Karl Marx, not a city that governs a country, not a big written letter that starts a sentence, not a punishment that carries the death penalty. It's lots of other things though - wealth, shares, long term funds, cash, gold, property - look enough of this, go check your dictionary.
