The main customer sponsor is a technocrat working in a government department and their knowledge of what is required for a business case is limited. However, the department is being pressurised to show good value for capital spend. This analysis does just that!

In addition to the economic benefits there will be spin-off benefits which will impact the department's activities in the areas of:

  1. creation of an anti-fraud culture
  2. maximising fraud deterrence
  3. successful prevention of fraud which cannot be deterred
  4. the prompt detection of fraud which cannot be prevented; the professional investigation of detected fraud
  5. and raising public awareness.

Distribution of information (possible via portal) throughout the Govt Health Department to the decision makers and investigators themselves will lead to improved efficiency. However this has not been accounted for in this analysis.

Global data visibility will lead to an improvement in utilisation of IT equipment and maintenance. This is because it will be possible to reduce multiple storage sites of the same data. However this has not been included in the analysis.

Manufacturing Company Telecoms Solution

XYZ Manufacturing Company's existing voice communications system is a private branch exchange (PBX) solution at its corporate headquarters and a wide variety of different key telephone systems and PBX equipment at its other manufacturing plants, laboratories, and offices.

The company has realised little in the way of consolidation or cost savings in terms of maintenance, support, or overhead and is facing large capital costs for upgrading its legacy PBX hardware. Each company site and each telephony system operated on a stand-alone basis, with different resellers providing outside support and maintenance as needed. Furthermore, there was no integration of non-telecom networking or software applications into any part of the voice communications system.

The company needs to standardise and consolidate its communications systems on an enterprise-wide basis, so they have approached Telecoms Provider to help achieve this.
